The Florida Department of Transportation’s six-year program to modernize and improve Interstate 10 and 110 concluded in October 2009. The $176 million effort widened Interstate 10 to six lanes between Davis Highway and U.S. 29, and widened Interstate 110 to six lanes between the I-10/110 interchange and Maxwell Street. In addition, a new “split diamond” interchange was constructed at I-110 and Airport Boulevard.
The I-10/110 upgrades have reduced congestion on Pensacola’s interstate highways, improved safety, and enhanced the reliability of the local interstate system.
